Not Just A Coincidence
Amanda sat there scratching her head as she took in the sight before her. This was no mere coincidence. It couldn’t be.
Seventeen sets of twins was a feat in and of its own. But this was just too much to deal with.
There had to be more to this story, and it was up to her to find out what it was.
There Had To Be A Link
These twins looked the same, and not just one pair of them. All of them looked the same, but surely that couldn’t be possible.
She knew for a fact that they had different parents, so it had to be something else. But there was definitely a link between them.
She just needed to find out what that link was.
Doing Some Digging
With that thought in mind, Amanda decided to do a little digging. If there was a link, it would be somewhere in the paper trail that has been building since their birth.
Amanda’s mind was racing with all the possibilities of what this could be.
But she never thought about the true reason for this coincidence.
A Shocking Find
After countless hours of research, Amanda finally stumbled upon something. It was a possible link, but it was so far-fetched that she didn’t want to believe it at first.
Sure, things like that happened. She had seen the stories on the news.
But it is impossible for something so shocking to happen to 17 different families.
What To Do?
Amanda spent the next few hours sitting in front of her laptop. She wasn’t working or researching anything, though.
She just sat there thinking. If this was really the case, she needed to do something.
But before she could do anything, she needed to find out if the parents knew what was going on there.
A New Year
It all started when the new school year began. Amanda, who was both a teacher and the administrator of the local kindergarten, was preparing for all the applications that were bound to come flowing in.
She was used to the stress that this time of year had to offer.
But when the applications came, she was in for the shock of a lifetime.
Applications Flew In
Sure enough, the applications began flowing in. And as she always did, Amanda examined each application carefully. But this time, she slipped up.
She was halfway through the stack of application forms when something caught her eye. And it was only then that she realized that she had missed something incredibly important.
What was it that slipped past her?
Something Peculiar
Amanda re-stacked her pile and started reading through the applications again. That was when she realized that there were a lot of applications for siblings, twins to be exact.
Amanda started separating the stacks of twins from the rest, and when she was done, her eyes grew with amazement.
“How is this even possible?” she asked herself.
What A Coincidence
Amanda counted the application forms, and she was stunned to see that 17 of the applications she had received were for families with twins.
“What a coincidence,” she murmured, not knowing that things were about to get a whole lot stranger.
Amanda accepted all of the twins, but on their first day, she would begin to doubt her decision.
First Meeting
Amanda got up early that morning in order to prepare for the biggest group the kindergarten had ever seen. All the staff members were on high alert, and it wasn’t long before the building was flooded.
Kids started arriving sooner than expected, but Amanda was too frazzled to pay too much attention to them.
It was only when she got into the class that she picked up on yet another anomaly.
Noticing Something Odd
As the children took their seats, Amanda noticed something odd. Each set of twins was seated together, but Amanda couldn’t tell any of them apart.
Her eyes darted from one pair to the next, and she ended up blinking to make sure she was seeing them right.
Every single one of the children looked exactly the same.
A Scene From A Movie
Amanda was frozen in shock as she sank down on her chair. This scene in front of her was like a scene from a horror movie she had seen ages ago.
She didn’t remember much about that movie, but she did remember that all those children looked the same as well.
Amanda pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t having a nightmare, but she was wide awake.
How Was That Possible?
All the words Amanda had planned to say evaporated from her mind. There was only one thing going through her mind at the time.
How is this possible? The walls echoed through her consciousness, begging for an answer she desperately needed.
But how could she get such an answer without invading the privacy of all those families?
A Closer Look
Over the next few days, Amanda decided to get to the bottom of this on her own. She observed each set of twins, trying to see if there were similarities or differences between them and the others.
It took her about a week, but by the end of it, she had her answer.
There were no noticeable differences between them. But what did that mean?
Asking Some Questions
Amanda then decided to try another approach, and she started asking the children some basic questions. She started simply with questions about their families.
And after she had all that information, she decided to look deeper by asking them about their births. That was when things took a strange turn.
What did they say that raised even more questions in their teacher?
Baffled
Amanda was baffled when she discovered that all of the twins were born on the exact same day. She could brush the looking alike thing off as a coincidence. But this was starting to become insane.
How could they look the same and share the same birthday? There had to be more to this situation.
It was impossible for them not to be linked in some way or another.
Doing Some Investigating
With the new information at hand, Amanda decided to launch a proper investigation into this matter. She started by checking the files of every single child in the kindergarten.
She honestly thought that someone was playing a trick on her or that the children just didn’t understand the questions, but she quickly learned that she was wrong.
They did, in fact, share the same birthday.
Another Strange Fact
But that wasn’t all Amanda discovered while going through the paperwork. She also learned that the twins had all been born at the same hospital.
This little fact left the teacher floored. How was this even possible? How had no one noticed that this was happening? Was it really so hard for them to see?
Or did they also just chalk it up to coincidence?
Hard To Believe
Amanda found it hard to believe that people didn’t notice the similarities between the children. They did all live in the same neighborhood, after all.
But that wasn’t nearly as baffling as the evidence that was sitting right in front of her. What had happened that day when the children were born?
Or, more accurately, what happened nine months before that?
Checking It Out
The next day, Amanda headed to the hospital, hoping to find some answers there. She was moved between departments but eventually ended up in the archives section.
There, an elderly woman named Agatha started pulling out the medical records for all the children.
It was a lengthy process, but it ended up being worth it in the end.
It’s True
Amanda and Agatha shared the files, and after hours of reading, they found that everything Amanda had discovered up until that point was correct.
But that only left the teacher with more questions, especially since none of the mothers had records relating to their pregnancies.
Somehow, those sections of each of the files had gone missing.
Something Fishy
That night, Amanda couldn’t sleep. Her mind was filled with questions, and she was trying everything in her power to come up with a logical explanation for all this.
There was definitely something fishy going on here, but Amanda couldn’t pinpoint what it was. Did one of the fathers have a dirty secret?
Or was there something more sinister going on?
Getting To The Bottom Of It
Whatever it was, Amanda was determined to get to the bottom of it. If it were one of the fathers, it was a matter of time before his secret was exposed.
And if it were something more sinister, Amanda would find out who was responsible and bring them to justice.
Little did she know that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
Planning Her Next Move
Amanda spent the next few days planning her next move. At first, she wasn’t too sure about how she was going to handle the situation, but she quickly realized that her first approach might’ve been the best one.
There would be only one difference, though.
Instead of speaking to the children, she would be speaking to their mothers.
First Phone Call
But before Amanda planned on speaking to the mothers, she needed to inform someone else of the things she discovered.
With trembling hands, Amanda dialed the number and pressed the phone to her ear.
It took a few moments for them to answer, but when they did, she told them everything she had learned up until that point.
Follow-Up Calls
When Amanda finished that call, she pulled out her student files once more and started calling the mothers. She didn’t want to worry them, so she told them there would be a parent-teacher conference the following day.
The mothers happily agreed, not knowing what they would face once they arrived.
But they would know the truth soon enough.
The Next Day
The next day, all the mothers stayed behind when they dropped their children off. They were escorted to a large conference room, where Amanda stated her case.
She could see the confused looks on each one of their faces. But she already knew that those frowns were about to turn into scowls.
And if she was unlucky, a riot might erupt among them.
A Shocking Request
“I know this will be painful to hear, but I think each one of you should take a DNA test,” Amanda said with a hint of hesitation in her voice.
“I’ve spoken to the local laboratory. They have sent someone out to assist us in this matter, and they will put a rush on the tests so we can have the results within the next few days,” she added.
Not Alone
Gasps and murmurs echoed through the conference room, distracting all the moms. But Amanda was on high alert, and she didn’t miss the fact that the sheriff, as well as a couple of deputies, had entered the room.
With that, she let out a sigh of relief.
For a moment there, she really thought that they didn’t believe her.
Test Results
The moms happily agreed to have their DNA tested, and before long, the results were back, but they were not the results everyone was expecting.
The DNA test results confirmed that all 17 sets of twins were biologically related. They had the same father even though they had different mothers. But no one really seemed too surprised. Why was that?
That was when one of the mothers spoke up. She conceived with the help of IVF, and so did every other mother in the building. There must’ve been some kind of mix-up at the clinic.
