Meeting Him

Tracey couldn’t wait any longer. For the past seven months, she had been carrying the couple’s baby, and now, she was finally going to meet the father.
For all her life, she’d wanted to do this for someone, and now, she was finally doing it.
She could hear the voice from the other side of the door. She was finally going to meet him. But when the door swung open, her heart dropped when she realized who the father was.
The Kindness Of Her Heart

When Tracey decided to become a surrogate mother, she did it out of the kindness of her heart.
She knew there were wonderful people out there who deserved to become parents, and she wanted to fulfill that wish.
When she saw the Joy family’s application, she couldn’t help but feel a strong connection to them. She had to be their surrogate. But soon, she made a devastating discovery.
He Wasn’t There

Although she set up an appointment to meet the couple, only the woman showed up. She was a lot older than Tracey, but she was kind and excited at the prospect of becoming a mother.
The woman’s name was Amanda Joy, and when Tracey asked where her husband, Lucas, was, Amanda explained that he was on a work trip.
But that day, despite Lucas not being there, Tracey made her final decision. She was going to help them become parents.
Seven Months

Before Tracey knew it, she was seven months pregnant and she still hadn’t met the father of the child. Although she often went out for lunch with Amanda, Lucas never joined.
“He’s a businessman, you know. Sometimes he doesn’t even have the time to drink coffee with me in the mornings,” Amanda would say each time he came up in conversation.
But one day, Tracey finally got to meet him. But she had no idea what was coming her way.
An Invitation

That night, Amanda had invited Tracey over for dinner. “Maybe you could finally meet Lucas tonight,” She said over the phone.
Tracey agreed in a heartbeat. She couldn’t wait to meet the man whose child she had been carrying.
When she showed up at their house, her heart skipped a beat. She knocked on their door, and a second later, it swung open. If only she had known how that night would end.
Face-To-Face

As soon as the door swung open, she was face-to-face with Amanda who held a bright smile.
“Come in! Lucas is on his way home from work. Dinner is almost ready. Let’s have a drink, shall we?” She said politely.
Tracey was led into the living room and handed a glass of soda as Amanda took a seat before her. The mood was light and friendly, but that was about to change.
He Was Home

They had been talking for no longer than twenty minutes when Tracey heard the keys in the front door.
Finally, Lucas was home and she was going to meet him. She could hear his voice, he was on the phone with someone.
But when the door swung open and he stepped inside, her heart stopped. She instantly recognized his face. That was when she knew that she couldn’t go through with it.
Something Special

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Tracey Milvat was not your average young woman. For all her life, Tracey knew that there was something special about her. She knew that she was up on this earth for a good reason.
Growing up, she was raised by a single mother who worked day and night to provide for her only child.
Her Father

Growing up, Tracey never knew her father. He walked out on her and her mother when she was only two years old. According to her mother, he was a terrible man with a short temper.
He often took his frustrations out on Tracey, even though she was a baby.
She had seen photos of him, but she grew up using her mother’s maiden name. She wanted nothing to do with the awful man who walked out on her.
She Worked Hard

Throughout her childhood, Tracey worked hard in school, desperate to achieve the success her mother never had as an adult.
She was a straight-A student, and eventually, she found herself in college.
But in her early twenties, Tracey realized what she was made for. One evening, while she was watching a documentary on surrogacy, she couldn’t help but be intrigued. That night, she stayed up for hours, researching the topic.
The First Application

This interest never truly went away. She was twenty-six years old when she finally decided to sign up with a surrogacy agency.
She was accepted, and before she knew it, she had received her first application.
Amanda and Lucas Joy were a middle-aged couple from the same part of town where Tracey grew up. She was blown away by their application.
Impressive People

Amanda was a talented painter, and her husband, Lucas, was one of the most successful businessmen in town.
But Tracey couldn’t help but wonder why his name seemed so familiar. If only she knew the truth.
Tracey was quick to arrange a meeting with the Joy family. Although she had a good feeling about them, she wanted to meet them in person first.
An Arrangement

The day they arranged to meet at the agency was an exciting day for Tracey. She walked around with a smile, feeling like she was doing what was right.
She stepped into the office, her grin only growing when she saw the woman already sitting on the couch, waiting for her.
“You must be Amanda,” She said.
Business Trips

Amanda explained that her husband was away on a business trip and wouldn’t be able to attend their meeting. Tracey didn’t see any problem with this fact.
They sat and spoke for hours. Amanda opened up about her infertility issues and how she’d always wanted to be a mother.
“At first, Lucas didn’t want to be a father, but now that we’re getting a little older, he’s finally ready.” Tracey should’ve seen the red flags.
A Good Feeling

That day, nothing about the Joy family seemed strange or suspicious. Tracey had a good feeling about them.
“I would love to help you and your husband become the parents you were meant to be,” She told the older woman.
Amanda was over the moon as she embraced the woman before her. Finally, her dreams were about to come true. If only she could have seen what would come of it.
Preparing

Before Tracey knew it, she was in the doctor’s office, preparing for the in vitro fertilization. Amanda was there, but there was still no trace of her husband.
Tracey thought this was strange. She wondered why he wasn’t around.
She wondered if he didn’t care enough to be there, or if he was just that busy with work. She decided to shrug it off.
Months Later

The months flew by in the blink of an eye, and before Tracey knew it, her stomach had expanded exponentially.
Over the months, she often went out for lunch with Amanda, who couldn’t wait to meet the little girl growing inside of Tracey.
“You are going to be a wonderful mother,” Tracey told the older woman. But one day, she made a horrifying discovery.
A Dinner

When Amanda first invited Tracey over for dinner with their family, she was over the moon. She was seven months pregnant and experiencing a bit of cabin fever.
She enjoyed every second spent with Amanda, and she couldn’t wait to finally meet Lucas.
“I’ll be there,” She said excitedly. When Friday night rolled around, she left the house just before 6 pm. Luckily, they didn’t live too far away.
It Was Great

When she arrived at the Joy house, everything seemed great. Amanda greeted her with a drink, and together, they sat in the living room, waiting for Lucas to get home from work.
They spent a few minutes catching up.
“This past weekend, I painted the nursery pink. At first, I was going to keep the walls white, but I just couldn’t help myself,” Amanda laughed. But that was when they heard the keys in the front door.
He Was Back

Finally, Lucas was home and she was going to meet him. She could hear his voice. He was on the phone with someone. She couldn’t wait to see the man she’d heard so much about.
But when the door swung open and he stepped inside, her heart stopped. She instantly recognized his face.
That was when she knew that she couldn’t go through with it.
She Recognized Him

As soon as the door swung open, Tracey’s heart dropped. She recognized his face the second he walked through the front door. She sat there, frozen as the man stared right back at her.
He didn’t seem to recognize her as he stepped into the room, greeting her with a warm smile.
He hung up the phone and approached her, sticking out his hand for her to shake. How could this be happening?
Familiar

All along, she knew his name seemed familiar, but now she finally knew why. She shook his hand, but she didn’t say a word. She was too stunned to speak. What on earth was going on?
Amanda noticed the change in her expression. She could instantly tell something wasn’t right.
“Tracey, honey. Are you okay? You look like you’ve just seen a ghost!” She chuckled, but she had no idea what was about to happen.
Introducing Herself

Tracey snapped out of her trance and stood up from the couch, facing the man. “I’m Tracey Milvat,” She said.
The second the words left her mouth, Lucas’ face dropped. He knew who she was.
She swallowed thickly and turned to Amanda. She had to tell her the truth. But what would happen next? What would happen to the baby? She refused to let Lucas take her. “Lucas is my biological father.”
The Truth

Her words hung heavily in the air. No one knew what to say, but she couldn’t let him get away with what he had done in the past.
“He walked out on my mom when I was two. But this was after years of taking his anger out of me and my mother,” She said.
Tears burned behind Amanda’s eyes as the man stared down at the floor. “He will do the same to you and your baby. I refuse to give the baby to him,” She said confidently. She had to leave.
Not A Word

Tracey walked wordlessly to the front door and left. Tears began streaming down her face. She hadn’t thought about the man in years.
When she heard his name, her father didn’t even come to mind.
She’d arrived in an Uber but decided to walk home. She needed some time to think. She held her stomach, nauseous at the thought of giving the child to such a terrible man.
Thinking About It

That night, she lay wide awake in bed, thinking about the entire situation. Since he’d left their home 24 years ago, he never tried to get back into contact with Tracey.
He never wished her a happy birthday or sent any Christmas cards. He simply left and forgot all about the family he once had.
She couldn’t let him do that again. But what was she supposed to do? But just then, she received a phone call.
The Call

When she saw Amanda’s name on the tiny screen, she quickly answered the phone.
Her heart was racing, wondering what would come of this conversation. But as soon as she raised the phone to her ear, she heard crying.
“Amanda?” She asked in a small voice. But a second later, the older woman said something she would never forget.
Divorce

“He told me everything, and I told him I wanted a divorce. He hadn’t been around for the last ten years, anyway. I knew I’d be left to raise the child on my own,” She said.
“When I heard what he’d done to you and your mother, I knew I couldn’t let him do the same to our child. I left him, and I want to raise the baby on my own.” Although it was terrible, Tracey was relieved.
Begging For Forgiveness

In the next two months, Amanda finalized her divorce. Tracey received many calls and texts, begging for her forgiveness, but she ignored all of them. She wanted nothing to do with the terrible man.
The day she gave birth to Amanda’s first child was a beautiful day.
Amanda was glowing, relieved to be rid of a man who probably wouldn’t even have shown up for the birth of their child.

In the end, Tracey knew she’d done the right thing. She had blessed a wonderful woman with the gift of a child, and she could tell that Amanda would never let her daughter down.
As the years passed, the pair grew close. Tracey got to watch baby Abigail grow into a smart and beautiful young girl.
She never saw her father ever again, and she was grateful for that.
