Virtual Reality (VR) has taken the world by storm in recent years. With it, there has come a revolution in the fitness world that has made workouts more fun and engaging. For many moms, spending hours on end on monotonous aerobics classes and dreary treadmill sessions is quickly becoming a thing of the past. VR offers an exciting and equally engaging way to stay fit. Whether you have decades of gym time or are just looking for a fun way to stay active, these VR fitness games will change your life.

Why VR Fitness?

Video games have steadily risen in popularity in the past two decades, gradually gathering a strong following across all ages. From young kids slicing fruits on their parents’ iPads to grandparents racing cars across desert valleys with their grandkids, it has become clear that this world is for everyone. For gym enthusiasts, fitness games and apps have been tailor-made to offer immersive experiences that provide the perfect blend of strength training, flexibility exercises, and cardio, all while making the whole experience fun and accessible.

Beat Saber

Developed by Slovaks Ján Ilavský, Vladimír Hrinčár, and Peter Hrinčár and published by Beat Games, Beat Saber is a rhythm-based game that entices you to slice through massive blocks to the beat of high-energy music. The game is not only fun, but improves reflexes, cardiovascular health, and hand-eye coordination. Given its mechanics’ simplicity and the complexity of its moment-to-moment gameplay, IGN described it as “the go-to for introducing people to the potential of VR gaming.”

Supernatural

Developed by Within, many have described Supernatural as a gym away from the gym. The game involves thorough 10 – 20-minute workouts that include anything from boxing and full-body cardio to meditations and exercises meant to recover energy and improve mobility and flexibility. “Supernatural” also offers guided sessions with actual trainers. Most of its landscapes are also breathtaking, with a variety of scenery that will keep you engaged.

Ring Fit Adventure

Ring Fit Adventure is a must-try for Nintendo Switch owners. It transforms everyday exercises into epic adventures. You can jog in space, explore fantastical worlds, and even take on powerful enemies as you strive to meet your workout goal. Unlike “Beat Saber” and “Supernatural”, “Ring Fit Adventure” has engaging storylines to keep you motivated and entertained as you grind on. Gamespot termed it as “a new standard for what a workout game should be.”
