Parenting can be simultaneously the most stressful but also the best time in a person’s life. Bringing a bundle of joy into the world and caring for them is unlike anything other. But that also means that there are some hilarious stories parents and children have shared over the years.

Guilt Trip

A mother named Karly shared her story: She and her son were enjoying a treat at the dinner table – pizza. Her son, Logan, was hungrily devouring his pizza, but he had something that his mother didn’t.

Karly looked across the table and eyed her son’s dipping sauce. It was a rich blue cheese sauce, something she didn’t order for herself, but something she wanted to dip her crust into. She didn’t think there would be any issue, but her son would do what most children do when they’re reluctant.

But her son’s response was classic. He let her dip her crust into the sauce, but not before a long-winded sigh. Karly decided to do what mothers do best, and guilt trip him. She brought up the fact that she had carried him for nine months, to which her son replied, “Really, Mom, how long are you gonna ride that scooter?”

Not The Greatest Cook

A woman named Karen shared a story about her cooking one night. She had been using ground turkey and chicken in her recipes and wanted to expand her recipes, but she must have used them in too many dishes according to her son.

She admitted she wasn’t the greatest cook in the world, but she had no idea what her son would have to say one night. After the last supper with this protein, he told Karen that he didn’t like the dinner. Karen’s husband immediately stopped the son in his tracks and made him apologize and say something nice to his mom. His words were, “Thanks, Mom, for trying.”

A Servant

A man named Jim shared a story about his time at a family wedding. One of his grandchildren was only eight years old and decided to give a speech. He told everyone at the wedding that Jim treated his wife like a queen. Jim was touched by this and thought he’d fish for another compliment, but he had no idea how badly it would backfire. He smiled at his grandson and asked, “If she’s a queen, what does that make me?” Jim expected a flattering response. The boy, without hesitating, said, “A Servant.”
