Gender reveal parties are all the hype in today’s world. A few years ago, couples would reveal the gender of their baby in a simple text message or over a celebratory dinner, but today, people go all out to reveal the exciting news. But sometimes, they go a little too far. One couple left TikTok viewers horrified by their unique gender reveal that came with a “public warning“.

The Gender Reveal

Recently, American citizen Kirra Mahaley took to her social media account to post a video of her gender-reveal party. At the time, she had no idea that the video would go viral for all the wrong reasons.

In the video posted to her TikTok account, you can see Kirra and her partner in a large park, celebrating the gorgeous day with friends and family. But the way they decided to reveal the gender of their baby left people mortified.

In the video, Kirra is seen wearing a punching pad on her hand as she stands in front of her partner. Attached to the pad is a box filled with colored powder, which will reveal the gender of their child. But then, her partner puts on a pair of boxing gloves.

That’s right; their plan was for the man to punch the pad attached to his pregnant partner’s hand until it exploded, revealing the gender of their baby when the powder came out.

Viewers watched in horror as the man went to punch the pad numerous times with enough force that Kirra could hardly stand up straight. But eventually, after several attempts, the box finally exploded with pink powder. They were having a baby girl!

“Baby girl coming soon (I couldn’t do the pads right his punches areeee harddddd) I’m so excited,” Kirra captioned the post on her TikTok, @kirramahaley_, unaware that the video would go viral.

The Backlash

Kirra and her partner were happy with the way their gender reveal panned out, but the video posted to TikTok had a public warning, which read: “Participating in this activity could result in you or others getting hurt.”

The video soon went viral and garnered over 1.9 million views, as well as more than 35,000 likes. But the feedback wasn’t as positive as Kirra imagined.

Views stormed to the post’s comments and shared their horror over what Kirra had posted. Many spoke about the dangers of the gender reveal. One viewer wrote: “The worst gender reveal of all time sponsored by Stella Artois.”

Another commented: “I’m sure there were multiple different ways to do a gender reveal rather than swinging at your misses.” But Kirra soon responded to this comment. “We wanted to do this one,” she replied.

But the hate comments didn’t stop there. Many people called it the worst gender reveal they had ever seen. “Horrible gender reveal. Probably the worst one I have watched,” someone else said.
